After the briefing, the aircraft lifts away facing the Drus and works its way up the Chamonix valley. The Mer de Glace slides past beneath the skids, then comes the cirque of the Grandes Jorasses and, depending on the day's air conditions, the Dôme du Goûter at close quarters to the 4,810-metre summit. The return leg follows the Bossons glacier, whose icefall tumbles three thousand metres towards the valley. It is the most requested flight in France, and the one where weather dictates everything: our operators confirm the slot the day before.

Frequently asked questions

Can the aircraft be chartered privately?
Yes. All our scenic flights can be privatised — the whole aircraft to yourself, whatever the number of passengers. It is also the only way to guarantee an exact departure time, since a shared flight depends on the aircraft filling up.
What happens if the weather is bad?
A flight never departs in degraded conditions: the decision rests with the pilot, usually the day before. The flight is then postponed, or refunded, according to the operator's own terms — we reproduce them word for word on each page, before any request.
Can children fly?
Yes, from the age of 2 on most aircraft, and on an adult's lap below that age depending on the operator. Each passenger's weight is requested at booking so the aircraft can be correctly balanced.
